Gifted & talented programs

GATE programs support intellectually gifted students by providing faster-paced learning environments and unique enrichment activities. Students are tested and identified, provided additional information and resources, and encouraged to participate in additional activities and conventions.

Magnet schools

Glendale's magnet schools offer theme-based educational courses in academically and culturally rich environments. Magnet options include Computer Science, Advanced Technology, International Foreign Language Academy of Glendale (FLAG), Visual and Performing Arts, and STEAM.

College & career readiness

GUSD strives to ensure that all students are adequately prepared for life after graduation, whether that's a rewarding career or continuing education in college. In either case, schools work with students to develop a post-graduation objective, as well as courses of action to help meet the goal.

Academic Programs

FLAG Dual Language Immersion

The Foreign Language Academies of Glendale offers dual language immersion in seven languages, starting in kindergarten. There are 90:10 and 50:50 immersion options, but in both cases, the target language is taught through content, not separate study. Languages include Armenian, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish.

Career & Technical Education

GUSD's industry-aligned technical programs help students to acquire real-life experience and practical knowledge in a variety of fields of study, allowing them to better explore their college and career goals. CTE enables students to gain competitive academic preparation to compete in the global marketplace post-graduation.

Early College Academy

GUSD partners with Glendale Community College to offer students the ability to complete up to two years of college for free before graduating from high school. Students begin ECA in 10th grade and attend classes taught by college professors at Hoover High School. The program is open to all GUSD students.
