Glendale Real Estate
Glendale’s population of nearly 200,000 has much to appreciate in their city’s history and future. The 17th largest city in California has benefited from the continued forethought of its residents, who have actively planned Glendale to be a jewel in California’s crown.
A finalist for the “All-America City Award” given by the National Civic League, Glendale’s excellent schools, police, government, libraries and fire departments combine with a low-crime level to continually draw new residents to live and work here. Numerous non-profit organizations bring local residents, businesses and government together, creating a network of organizations that support the community and enhance the quality of life in Glendale.
Glendale’s 34 neighborhoods each have a unique history and character all of their own, and include great hillside homes with views, classic vintage homes on large lots, homes tucked away in the scenic canyons, and homes that are equestrian zoned in Glendale Rancho. There is something for everyone in Glendale, a result of a proud history and its emphasis on continuing its success through diversity and opportunity. |

Incorporated in 1906, Glendale’s history includes important aviation notables who used the now-closed Grand Central Airport for many firsts. Charles Lindberg piloted the first flight between Southern California and New York City, and Howard Hughes built his innovative H-1 Racer at the airport, just two examples of the airport’s place in aeronautical history.
Today, Glendale is a city known for its resurgence into the entertainment industry, while maintaining a classic feel that can’t be found anywhere else. The city now uses a once-private estate that blended a variety of architectural styles into Brand Park and the estate’s old mansion has been converted into Brand Library. In addition, the completion of the Glendale and Ventura freeways, the renovation of the historic Alex Theatre and the opening of the cosmopolitan Glendale Galleria spurred the city into new prominence.
This revitalization has led to Glendale’s downtown area becoming a popular Southern California destination. Over 200 shops, boutiques, restaurants, theaters and spas call Glendale’s downtown home, and the friendly atmosphere created by the local merchants and residents is continually attracting new businesses. In fact, the Americana at Brand, a major shopping complex that will include additional theaters, cafes, restaurants and shopping, is scheduled to open soon.
Downtown is also home to many national corporations including the “southern campus” of DreamWorks SKG, the diversified entertainment company and Disney Imagineering studios. Glendale’s proximity to downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood makes it a hub for the entertainment business, yet far enough away to maintain its small town charm and hospitality. |
