West Hills: “A Hidden Treasure of the Western Valley”

A beautiful blend of lush green parkland and rolling hills, of charming neighborhoods and quiet streets, and of bustling commercial areas and vibrant shops and restaurants, West Hills is a community for those who want to escape the big-city bustle and enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds it. Tucked into the western San Fernando Valley against the rolling Simi Hills, West Hills is filled with beautiful parks and open spaces, historic landmarks and important cultural sites, and beautiful homes nestled along quiet, tree-lined streets. Though an upscale community, West Hills lacks the glitz and gaudiness of some of LA’s most opulent neighborhoods, instead enjoying a tranquil, relaxed, and friendly atmosphere. And with plenty of commercial districts, and even a business district, West Hills is fully-equipped to promote life well-lived.

Why Do Residents Choose West Hills?

Things to Do

If you’re looking for action and nightlife, West Hills might not be the place to find it. But it still has plenty of its own charms to offer, like Orcutt Ranch, featuring a historic adobe residence, gardens, and citrus orchard, allowing residents to stroll through the scenic property, take a tour of the house, explore the community gardens, host a special event, or even harvest citrus. West Hills is home to the Platt Branch Library, and the West Hills Neighborhood Council promotes community connection through a wealth of festivals, movies, health and safety fairs, and community cleanups throughout the year—including the annual Spring Fest, Orange Fruit Puck, and Memorial Day Parade, as well as community hikes, bike rides, and other activities.

Nearby, Topanga Westfield and the adjoining Westfield Village open air marketplace offer some of the best shopping in the entire San Fernando Valley… and they’re just a few blocks away.

Outdoor Recreation

If you love outdoor adventure, then West Hills is the place for you. Head west to explore the breathtakingly beautiful open space preserves and parks throughout the Simi Hills, like El Escorpion Park and Bell Canyon Park, which feature scenic hiking trails, breathtaking views, and climbs up the iconic Castle Peak, which reaches nearly 1,500 feet in elevation. Discover endless recreation in the Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve, which connects to the Cheseboro-Palo Comado Canyon Park in the Santa Monica Mountains, or even go horseback riding on the equestrian trails at Valley Circle Park.

Stay closer to home but still enjoy plenty of outdoor relaxation or activity at one of West Hills’ many neighborhood parks, like Shadow Hills Park or the West Hills Recreation Center. Throughout the community, you’ll discover amazing amenities, like sports fields and courts, playgrounds, picnic areas, hiking and walking trails, recreation and community centers, and more.

Shopping, Dining & Business

West Hills is home to the Fallbook Mall, and while not quite as large perhaps as the neighboring Topanga Westfield, it is a quieter place to find major retailers, like Trader Joe’s, Wal-mart, Target, Ross, and more, as well as smaller retailers and restaurants. You can find even more conveniences and businesses at the centrally-located Platt Village Shopping Center.

West Hills is also home to the Corporate Pointe business park, a state-of-the-art facility featuring not only top-notch businesses in research and light industry, but also a workplace environment filled with activities, amenities, and beautiful views.
