Northridge is filled with its own interesting attractions and points of interest. The Valley Performing Arts Center is home to a large concert and performance hall, as well as a smaller black-box theatre, both of which host outstanding events throughout the year. The Northridge Fashion Center offers plenty of apparel and accessory shopping, and the historic Oakridge Estate offers tours through its scenic grounds and beautiful old mansion. The Northridge Recreation Center offers youth sports, classes, and clinics, as well as adult tennis lessons, arts and crafts classes, fitness programs and activities, and outdoor athletic fields and courts, a barbecue and picnic area, a playground, and the seasonally-heated Northridge Pool.

Also within the community are Dearborn Park, which offers basketball courts, a playground, picnic areas, tennis courts, and a walking path, and Vanalden Park, a scenic area with horseshoe pits, a picnic area, and a walking path.

California State University Northridge (CSUN) is a branch of the large and prominent California State University. In addition to enrolling over 40,000 students every year, it also employs nearly 6,000 people in the area and is a major contributor to the local economy and business.
